UD9 compatibility with SSD PCI-e card...

Hi! all, I'm new here so thank you for welcoming me.....lol...

OK here is my question....I want to buy the UD9 and I would like to know if this SSD PCI-e is compatible with the mobo...I already have the card..

I need to know for sure before I spend $700.00 on the new mobo....thank you for your help.

EDIT: I also have these....any compatibility problem with this memory?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I can't see why the OCZ drive would give you any problems mounting it on the UD9 motherboard. From the specs it sounds fine. Likewise  with the memory although I would recommend you to check out the manufacturese website for their QVL of motherboards and Gigabytes QVL of memory. The specs seem fine.

Actually I think you are mistaken here Pierre. This is the UD9 board and they have more X16 slots and more X8 slots. Here is the relevant part from the manual:

(Note 2) For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to
install it in the PCIEX16_1 slot; if you are installing two PCI Express graphics cards, it is recommended that you install them  in the PCIEX16_1 and PCIEX16_3 slots.
(Note 3) Each PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the corresponding PCIEX16 slot (PCIEX8_1 with PCIEX16_1, PCIEX8_2 with PCIEX16_2, and PCIEX8_3 with PCIEX16_3). When a PCIEX8 slot is populated, its corresponding PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode.

alainneedle1  I think you are also getting confused by the speed of the PCIE slots and the number of slots.  You would have 4 PCIE x16 slots and 3 PCIE x8 slots in total.

So if I understand this correctly.... 2 GPU in SLI will use slot 1 x 16 and slot 5 x 16.... and I can put the SSD card in slot 7  or if I use only one GPU in slot 1 x 16 I can put the SSD card in slot 3 - 5 or 7....do I get this right?

Basically if you stick to the PCIE x16 slots you can't go wrong . It's just that each PCIE x16 slot shares bandwidth with it neighboring PCIE x8 slot.

One or two more question if I may....if I use only one GPU (first slot) do I have to put the SSD card in slot # 3 or can I put the SSD card in slot 5 or 7 without problems......these questions may seems simple to all of you Guru's but I'm learning as I go.....also it does seem a lot of peoples are having problems with the UD9 as I read the comment posted on newegg.....what about on this forum here.... a lot of complaint about the UD9?

No very few complaints at all, to be honest. If you want to check the manual it is all in there:

But basically if you are running two GPUs then use the first  PCIE x16 slot and then miss one PCIE x16 and then use the next PCIE x16 which is what you said.

Thank you for your help, I just ordered the UD9 with the 980x...saved $260.00 by odering the combo deal....I will let you all know how good is the mobo after I'm done  putting  everything together.
