Intel E2200 2200ghz working at 1200ghz, GA-P31-S3G
« on: October 21, 2010, 04:57:20 pm »
for start i never cared how my computer work's, but a few days ago searching information about overclocking.....surprise...my intel processor who normal have 2200ghz clock speed work only at 1200 mgh......the mathematics are ok, i mean 6x200 - 1200 (core ratio & fsb speed). but on specificationes about the cpu says: Clock Speed    2.2 GHz, Bus/Core Ratio    11.......anyway i tried to change from bios the multiplier, because afterall is not overclocking i only want to set my CPU at normal values, but does't work.....it let's me choose the 11x multiplier but after saved, nothing....restart and it remains at 6x.......is there any way to restore my retarded CPU???? please help me ( CPU: Intel® Pentium® Processor E2200
(1M Cache, 2.20 GHz, 800 MHz FSB), motherboard:  GA-P31-S3G)

Well it does seem to be running slowly I had thought that maybe it was just a reporting error.
Is that the latest BIOS version for your motherboard?

Oh, you used @BIOS. THis is a dangerous tool as it flashes the BIOS through the OS which puts another layer in between to go wrong. Quite often we find people brick their boards or end up with corrupted BIOSes. We always recommend using QFlash for BIOS updates. It is part of the BIOS and is a far more stable utility. Possibly this is what has happened in your case.

I suggest re-flashing it properly and on the homepage of QFlash there is an option for Keep DMI Data amke sure you disable it. Then flash the BIOS and load Optimised BIOS settings afterwards.

Ok so we will clear the CMOS. Unplug the computer from the mains and then press the power button to get rid of any residual power left in the capacitors. Next remove the battery from the motherboard and leave it out for ten minutes at least.

Next replace the battery and then plug back into the mains. Then power up and load optimised setup defaults.

done......but zero response......what i fiind strange is that optimized defaults is setting the processor where he should be at 2200 mgh with 11x, but is unable to keep the sentings.......could be that the processor is loked somehow??? from what i undestand are some processors with loked multiplier.......but if he is why the f**k Intel says that he works at 2200 with 11x and why optimized defaults recognize those values????

It is possible the processor is faulty but it is not locked by Intel at that multiplier. It still sounds more like a faulty BIOS.
What power source have you got in Romania?

After you go into the BIOS and change the multiplier you press F10 to save and exit. Then what do you get any warning or exactly what happens?

It just occurred to me you are saving your settings when you exit the BIOS aren't you?
