Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R rev.2.0 DEAD

I have kind of same problem with my GA-X58A-UD3R. It worked fine for 3-4 days straight without any problems (did not turn it off).
But after turning it off one day for 8-9 hours it does not get past the POST screen, and some times i can't even see that. So can't even get in to BIOS.
I thought it was my other memory (Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 2133MHz 4GB, that i could not boot with if it got over 1600Mhz. ran it on 1066Mhz) that was not on either Gigabyte or Corsairs list of working memmory, and i had som cold boot problems with it. Got BSOD 4-5 times when i started up when it was cold, and then all problems just dissapeard and working 3-4 days straight. so i bought new RAM. I know my new ram is't on Gigabytes list either, but it is on Corsairs list.
Have tried a lot of things to now:
-Resett BIOS
-Change memory (as told)
-Check CPU pins and conectors. all looks fine
-Tried to use PCI-x16_2 for my grafic card
-Tried other grafic card
-Tried a difrent PSU
-Striped it down on a workbench to eliminate shortcuts.

The only thing i had not tried that i can think of is to try a other CPU, but can't get my hand on one.
It's frustrating to have a new computer that i can't use. just unending cycle of restarts :-(

Have any more ideas i can try?

PS: The BIOS version i used was FC, and the MB is Rev2

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.

Dont worry that you new memory isn't on Gigabyte's QVL as  there are very many memory modules that haven't been tested by them. As long as it is on Corsair's QVL it should be fine.

You say you tried a different PSU but a few details would help as to what PSU you are using now and before. Also a complete list of your hardware would also help and what BIOS version you are using.

The complete list of my system can you see on my signature. The other PSU i tried is a Corsair 520W that i'm using on this computer right now. When i tested it i only had motherboard with memory and CPU and the grafic card atached on my workbench.

Have you got a beeper attached for POST beeps?

If so try removing the graphics card and then see what beep code you get.

It is the same beep with and without the grafic card. one long beep and 2 fast short ones after. and ca 1 sec after the beef it restarts

That is what I thought it might be. The beep code translates to a grahics card error. Now that doesn't necessarily mena that the card is faulty it could just be that it isn't getting enough power. So it is down to the PSU or GPU.

Have you made sure all the GPU power plugs are firmly connected?

Is the 12V connector 8pins near the CPU inserted fully?

I'm sorry that i miss lead you. When i tested it to hear what sound it was i forgot to conect the PCI-E conectors. when i tried it now i hear only a short/fast beem and it restarts. the 8 pin near the cpu i fully inserted.

The other grafic card i tried is a 8800GT. same sond on that too. one short beep. i'f i remember right it's tha same beep i heard when it booted normaly

I think then that you need to check the CPU socket for bent pins. You can also check the bottom of the CPU  and make sure each land has a mark in  the centre.
Take a couple of clear Macro photos without the flash and post ther here. One or more of the pins and one of the CPU.

Has looked at avery single spot on the cpu and it's markings on everyone. thats mean that noone can be bent as the fault happend when i only had attached the cpu one time. still the same fault with restarts. and if it had been the cpu. why had it then been running nonstop without restarts in over 3 days. and then i let it be off for some time it never whent back on. If i had a other MB i should have testet that, but unfortunaly i dont have that.

And i can't unfortunaly provide any pictures. the camera i have does not take good pictures. It is a mark on every shiny spot on the cpu, but not all is completly in the center. but everyone is in an electrical leading material. no bent pints. and that i'm 100% sure of.

Well if you are sure. The thing is the motherboard is POSTing properly that is what the single beep means so there is no problem there. I don't know where you expect to go from here then as there is always a chance the CPU is faulty but it is only on very rare occasions.

The only possibility is that the latest BIOS you have might be faulty so you could try Flashing back to FA and see what effect that has.

And how could i possible be able to do that when i cant se the post screen more than a half second? (and that is after the computer has shuted down)

Right well start by clearing the CMOS completely.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least ten minutes before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self and then press F10 to save and exit.
