560 Ti OC crash on cold Windows 7 boot

Hi,

not sure where else to seek help, so I thought will try manufacturers forums (never had to do this before).

Problem: my new Gigabyte 560 Ti OC (not SOC) crash every single time I boot to Windows 7 x64. Windows shows error message about Nvidia drivers and something about Kernel, screen turns black few times and PC just auto reboots. After reboot it works as per normal. If I reboot, no problems booting up. As soon as I shutdown, start again, same problem.

Tried with drivers which came on CD, also latest Nvidia 266.66, same issue. If I uninstall NVidia drivers and use Windows 7 default ones, it works fine.

Please help, this problem is driving me nuts and I don't know if I should wait for new drivers (1-2 months??) or simply return card for refund/exchange.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I expect it is just a driver issue from your description even though I am afraid it doesn't help you much right now.

The only other thing I can suggest to try is to  turn back the timings on the card to the defaut values for this board and see if it will run better like that for now. Sometimes these company overclocks can be a bit off.

Also if you can get into windows at all install msi afterburner and down clock the card to stock. Your card at the moment is at 900.  Down clock it to 822 (core) and 1900 on the memory.  People are having probs with this card (as I did) as it was a bad factory overclock   (not with the core or memory as I have way surpassed them) but not enough voltage.... my core is now at 1000 with the mem at 2100 and there is still more to come from it on the memory side..

My card is stable as a rock... the new drivers work great.. My PSU is an antec truepower 650. You got enough juice?

My 560 Ti OC is showing artefacts in games and stress test with ati tool and occt. Should I rma or wait for a bios fix?

If you can live with it for now I would suggest waiting for a firmware update. It might be as  well to keep GGTS informed of the problem though so they know that it needs fixing.

I have the Gygabyte GTX 560 SOC Edition and i'm having similar issues on cold boot up.

Every so often say 1 in 5 attempts it will finally boot up fine.

I am also finding issues in game where it just freezes for about a second and the FPS drops quite low into the red (down to the 30's) then comes back to life and works for about another 10 secs then happens again.


Im not liking what i'm hearing about the factory SOC being faulty......waited for ages for this card to be released after the initial release date was put back 3 weeks.

Anyone else having issues?

If I am not mistaken there have been a few reports of problems with the factory applied overclock of the cards. There doesn't appear to be anything faulty with the hardware just the way the OC is set up. I have seen where the card has been taken back to default settings and then OCed manually and worked fine.

I am fairly PC literate and can do most things, but Overclocking a card, voltage etc is not my strong point hence why i went for a factory overclocked one. (I could have gone for the Stock 560 but wanted the extra oomph)

Does anyone know what settings we need to set these cards at to to stop them from having these issues?

I think its the voltage thats the issue from reading other posts but I have no idea what it needs to be set to?

Currently the Factory Super Overclock has the settings set at:

GPU Voltage: 01.041
Memory Voltage:01.345
GPU Clock:1000
Memory Clock:1145
Shader Clock:2000

Can anyone help?

Hi

GGTS can take anything form a couple of days to a week or more to answer depending on how busy they are.

I am afraid I don't know the default voltage for this GPU as we have more trouble getting information from the graphics card side of the business, whereas I can find out about motherboards very quickly. I am sure there must be  some members out there who own this card and can give you the info you require.

Where did you get the memory voltage information from?

Hey...

You get a Gigabyte OC GURU application with the card....its quite similar to MSI Afterburner and it allows you to manually set the OC variables or use the default factory OC settings....So its possible to adjust the voltage in here.

Its these factory OC settings I think that are causing the issue - other people have said this and Ive emailed Gigabyte on http://ggts.gigabyte.com but i'm yet to get a reply.


You said they got back to you very promptly and advised to return card.   Its been nearly a week and I've not heard anything.

Any update - did you get a replacement/refund?

If you got a replacement, was it like for like?

Sometimes it can take a week or more to get an answer from GGTS that is one reason we try to provide a much quicker service on the forum.

Have you tried finding the default values for the standard card and start with setting all your's to the same ?
