560 Ti OC crash on cold Windows 7 boot

Well I can try that....but the reason I bought a factory overclocked card is so I didn't have to mess with it (Im not an Overclocking Guru in any shape or form)  I also dont want to negate any warranty.

If there is something wrong with the card out of the box from gigabyte, then I want to RMA it and get a working replacement or a refund.

Thats what i've asked in my email to them - is there an issue with the Factory Overclock settings and do I need to RMA it?

I waited a long time for this card to come out and am a wee bit dissapointed to say the least.

I don't think in general there is an issue with the cards as I have only seen a few with nproblems on the forum. However the main issue seems to be the same as yours and I have seen other fix it by putting the card's settings back to default and then overclocking it themselves.

I suppose the thing is that as with any overclocking all chips behave differently and so it is hard to apply a standard overclock to a series of cards. Even though it isn't a major OC some chips just don't seem to make it.

Gigabyte kindly provided me with a new bios that runs the core at 880MHz instead of 900MHz for the OC version. The fan also runs at 30%.  Now my system is 100% stable. PM me with your email if you need it.

Hey...

You get a Gigabyte OC GURU application with the card....its quite similar to MSI Afterburner and it allows you to manually set the OC variables or use the default factory OC settings....So its possible to adjust the voltage in here.

Its these factory OC settings I think that are causing the issue - other people have said this and Ive emailed Gigabyte on http://ggts.gigabyte.com but i'm yet to get a reply.


You said they got back to you very promptly and advised to return card.   Its been nearly a week and I've not heard anything.

Any update - did you get a replacement/refund?

That well known store in Bolton refused to replace the card because it passed Heaven and Crysis benchmarks. They will not test with anything else. But I knew something was wrong because it would crash in some games and also fail OCCT. Nothing stresses a gpu like occt and I suggest to test with this for ultimate stability.

Some people just won't listen to reason will they ? If someone is having a problem with a card and it doesn't fit their testing regime then obviously there is no problem.

Hey thanks for the offer - mine is the SOC card, dont know if same settings apply.....what type of Mobo do you have that they gave you an updated BIOS for?

I have a ASUS P5N-T Deluxe - I need to wait til I go home to check the BIOS version i have currently.

I think you will find that he means a BIOS/firmware update for the graphics card not the motherboard.

As mentioned by Dark Mantis the bios is for the OC version of the 560 Ti card. Not all cards can do 900MHz at default voltage and I am disappointed that I paid for a card that  should work at 900MHz but doesn't. I'm not happy with this and will make sure I get the card replaced by the retailer.

I think that is the best way to go as I said before overclocking is an art not a science and as such it cannot be "job lotted" onto a whole batch of chips even if they are supposed to all be the same. It just doesn't work like that.

OK i think im going to go down the same route......

I finally got a reply from GTS and even though I said in the form that it was a Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti SOC card they have asked me for the gigabyte model number which I was not aware of at the time creating the GTS question.

I have now replied with the GV-N560SO-1GI  but my ticket number is now a new one so it will probably take another week for them to get back to me....sheesh!  Surely they should respond quicker now that they have already replied??

IN regards to the returning of your card...ive luckily never had an issue before with anything ive bought....whats the process of the RMA?  I got it through ebuyer and I've been told by friends that they take it back test it and either give a replacement or a refund??

Not much point in me getting a replacement?  I think i'd like a refund and go for a different card.

Ok thanks guys you've been really helpful to a complete n00b.

In your opinion, should I wait for GTS to come back with a reply or a solution ie BIOS/firmware update or should I just send the Card back to Ebuyer?

I assume that if i get a new BIOS/Firmware update for the card its going to be of a similar vain to to Fads in that they will be reducing the Speed of my card in order to make it stable hence negating the point of me paying more for an overclocked card over the stock brand?

I think I would return the card as it isn't performing as it should and any fix is going to slow it down.

Just as an update:

GGTS got back offering me a new BIOS for the card and a reduced GPU clock speed by 30%

I RMA'd the card with Ebuyer and they confirmed that the card is faulty and I got a refund.

The card is no longer available for purchase on Ebuyer.
