How do i get 5.1 surround sound out either Via the HDMI cable or the S/PDIF?

I'm using this Mobo as the base for a HCPC so it is connected to the TV Via AV Equipment through HDMI cables

In Fig A I can here sound left & right

in Fig B i can't.
Fig C is the properties of Fig B

Please note my install CD is missing so the drivers are from the Gigabyte site 
before I installed "Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip" there was a option for HDMI Sound output but it wasn't working.

Any idea where i might download an ISO for the missing CD?

Hi Ugg,
I don't actually use the On-board sound but this question has come up before and, if I remember correctly, it has to do with the Audio settings in the Realtek software.

The answer is hidden amongst all of the posts on this forum somewhere but I can't pin it down just yet! I'll keep looking but hopefully, someone will be quicker and give you a definitive answer before I can post back.

Still struggling to find the answer ( we need a better search engine on this forum) but have you set your default Graphics device in BIOS from AUTO to D-Sub/HDMI?

This is done under the M.I.T Section IGX Configuration tab. You need to set Onboard VGA output connect to D-SUB/HDMI. A couple of users have found this solves the audio problem.

While you try that I will keep looking.

Am confused so could somebody clarify

1. HDMI port caries both HD Video and Surround sound  no S/PDIF required

2. HDMI port caries only HD Video and 2 channel Sound, Surround sound via S/PDIF cable

3. the S/PDIF cable is 2  channel Sound, Surround sound via colored audio jacks

Thats what I had assumed in the first place.
So referring to my original question how do I get  5.1 surround sound out Via the HDMI cable?

why are my sound device option indicating HD Digital Audio SPDIF  & HDMI ony 2 channel see figs above or is this the same thing?

You would need to take the HDMI output to a supporting AV amplifier from which you could run your surround sound speakers and the video.

I Have the HDMI Cable connected to the AV equipment

I am assuming then that your AV amp supports sound input from the HDMI. If so then there shouldn't be any problem with outputting it to the speakers. Have you selected HDMI on the computer as the sound output ?

Yes the AV equipment take full surround sound via the HDMI ports

No! There isn't one to select I only have the options as per the pictures in my original post.

I'm now thinking it may be a driver issue so I'm going to attempt to remove them and reinstall in this order (please advise if incorrect)

Vga Driver
Lan Driver
Chipset
Audio

I don't need Sata Raid Driver

So is there a way of cleanly uninstalling the above or is going through the control panel good enough?

I got it to work

1 reset AV equipment to its defaults ( I'd been messing with its settings so much)

2 reinstalled Windows  (New build so no big deal)

3 Installed Drivers from Gigabyte site

Download latest Realtek ATI HD Audio from Realtek

In control panel > hardware and sound there is now a Realtek HD Audio manager.

In here you can set the surround sound.  I Now have sound from all 5 speakers and the sub-woofer.

I confess i don't remember seeing this before but I may have missed it.

note: rite click on the sound icon > playback device still only gives 2 channel through the HDMI Port this may have been where i was going wrong.
