For those of us waiting to get our hands on the new AMD processors it looks as if we will be hanging on until September.
For more info read here:

AMD, you are breaking my heart!
And I am wondering if you are for real or in dream land:
"AMD itself believed that its multi-core Zambezi FX CPUs will allow it to compete head-to-head with Intel's high-end Core i-series "Sandy Bridge" processors that can sell for as much as $300 and more per chip."
What say ye Absic?

Hi Soar,
I say the proof of the pudding will be in the eating!
But, if I am being totally honest, I don't feel that AMD will really match Intel's higher spec'd chips....... for the time being.

I too read the blurb about it being put back and that isn't good news for you guys. I know how I feel when I am counting down to a release date only to have it pushed back.
I hope it will be a big success but I can't honestly see it actually matching the capabilities of Intel's top line.

Well you could of course build the rest of the system to be compatible with the Bulldozer chip when it appear. All you will have to do, assuming it s 990 motherboard is a BIOS flash when the time comes.

It seems as if the wait for the new AMD AM3+ FX Zambezi (Bulldozer) processors will be over soon. Check here for more info:
http://lenzfire.com/2011/07/amd-bulldozer-release-date-finalised-24475/
Personally I am looking at the FX-8170 for my own system but I might have to wait a little longer for that one to hit the shelves.

I agree
absic
the 8170 sounds like the CPU of choice. At least the release is on the horizon now.

I think that often most of us do the same and just end up buying the best we can afford. It might be different if money wasn't an object.

Latest piece of news I can find on Bulldozer:
http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2011/9/1/gigabyte-leaks-six-amd-bulldozer-launch-models-%28sku%29.aspx
(though I fear it just repeats what you already know)
