Help please.
« on: July 08, 2011, 11:07:05 am »
Hello,

My new system was received yesterday. But I have graphic card problem.

CPU: i5-2500k
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 1TB
MB: GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 BIOS F4
VGA: GIGABYTE GTX 560 1GB
POWER: COOLERMASTER 750W

2 of 6pin power was connected and connected monitor with DVI cable.

The problem was Intel HD 3000 Which with CPU works fine but GTX 560 cannot be detected from m/b (Windows 7 too)

I set CMOS setting like PCIE 16x and Onboard VGA to AUTO or Enable if No Ext PEG but no luck graphic card only Intel HD 3000 works no signal from the GTX 560.

Also I changed to GTS 250 no work another cable and monitor no works, reseat card no works, change RAM configure no works.

I'm very confused what's happened.

Please HELP

Regards,
Jin

Hi

Firstly have you contacted the retailer to let them know there is a problem with the system. If you only got it yesterday they should be able to help you fix it.

You seem to have done all the obvious things to sort out this problem. Is the graphics card in the top slot PCIEx16_1 ?

Can you try a different graphics card, even a low end one just to make sure that the slot is working ok ?

I would make sure where you stand about warranty before doing anything much else yourself.

I contacted retailer who built the system already and no reply yet.

I tried another monitor, cable, graphics cards, reseat memory and graphic card.

Also, correctly configured CMOS setting from the guides. Just Intel HD 3000 graphics works..

I hope no hardware problems I just got the system yesterday.

Thank you for reply.

Have a nice day.

Jin

If I can just clear up something first to stop any further confusion, you are getting mixed up by the CMOS and BIOS. What you are talking about is making changes in the BIOS.

Well you could do an extended clear of the CMOS. Please follow these instructions exactly.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.
