Hello,

Trying to set up my system i have noticed the problems below:

1. Onboard Network Card is loosing the link with my ADSL modem/router

I tried solve the problem by updated motherboard bios from F5 to F6 to F7 and to F8
Problem didn't solve. It didn't solve even by using:

* different ADSL modem/router
* 3COM Gbit switch
*different CAT 5 cables

Also changing the Auto Negation to 100Mbit FULL DUPLEX didn't solve the problem

2. I am using Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 2x2Gbyte 9-9-9-24 2T 1,65V
They are working at 1333 Mhz and 1,5 volt.
Is there any way to make them work at their default settings?

Hi and welcome.

Firstly I would suggest trying to find out what is interferring with it. Try disabling the USB3.0 and ESATA in the BIOS and see if that helps. As a side note when updating the firmware or drivers for this devicxe make 100% sure that all vestiges of the original ones  are removed first.

Thanks for the quick answer. Unfortunatelly the problem exists and it has nothing to do with drivers or firmware or vestiges that i have to remove.
I am at the screen of SMART LAN. At the Lan Port the cable is start being detected. I get the Link Detected and the Cable Length answer and then link is going down, i have negotiation again with my router etc...

The cables and the routers or switches that i am using are 100% without a problem.
And ofcourse the same situation is going on when i am on windows enviroment.

Assuming that i have disabled some interfaces / features of the MOBO and solving the problem, is NOT an option or a solution for me.
My question is if after scanning the cable on SMART LAN, should the link be lost?

Obviously the answer to that question is no but that hasn't stopped it happening. Hence my suggestion to disable the USB3 and SATA3 just for testing purposes.

Hello Tkavs,

The driver for the LAN chip on your motherboard is very important and a must have. Have you installed the required LAN driver on your computer? Is it the latest driver?

Can you check your connection to your ISP by using another computer or laptop? This will insure that this end of the connection is OK and that you have the right connection settings and password. If you do not have another computer phone your ISP and get them to check your connection from them to your ISDL modem.

Sometimes certain LAN chips can be hard to kick in, try this:

1- go into Device manager and look for "Network Adapter"
2- click on it to open the tree below it and look for " ...XXX ... Controller # xxx"
3- right click on it and select property which will open a new window. The "general" tap will give you your device status
4- Select the "Driver" tab. This will give you your LAN driver version. If latest version on board then...
5- Click on "Uninstall" button below driver info and uninstall driver.
6- Close device manager and re-boot your system. Upon re-boot Windows will re-detect your LAN chip and re-install its driver. This may allow your LAN to re-connect to your ISDL modem and ISP.

if this does not work go back to Device manager and the property tab for your LAN controller. Goto the "Power Management" tab and uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power". Then repeat step 1-6 above.

  Both DM and TigetLi are giving good fault analysis advise...... what order you do them in is up to you.....other things to look into would be ...is the setup any different from your last machine.....different location ....different cable....different wall socket or jack.......modem closer to PC or power cables......LAN cable crossing a power source......food for thought anyway.

Really thanks for the help and any advises. The problem is not present when i am disabling firewire controler. Maybe it is strange but that's what i have noticed so far. DM, i tried USB3 and eSATA but the problem didn't solve. All these using F8 bios.

The setup from the upgrade of my previous system, regarding cables (Network and power supply) and router, is exactly the same.

The installation of Win 7 is a fresh one and the drivers i am using are all from http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3849#dl

Also except the GV-N560OC-1GI  GPU, there is nothing else installed to the rest of the PCI slots

Activating the firewire connectors option in BIOS knocking down your LAN is an excellent troubleshooting on your part.

Check all of the hardware firewire socket/connectors that you have on your motherboard (both internal and External) for any object that may be bent or embedded. Do the same for any other firewire connectors you may have on your PC Case or Video card if you sport one. If your PC case has  firewire connector(s) make sure that the cable(s) that link them to your motherboard are not stripped. Triple check to make sure that these firewire connectors are plugged into the proper firewire connectors on your motherboard and that no pins are bent. Remember that firewire 800 devices use a nine-pin connector. On the other hand, FW400 devices use six-pin (powered) or four-pin (unpowered) connectors. beware that you must have nine-pin to six-pin or nine-pin to four-pin 'bilingual' cables so you can plug a FW400 device into a FW800 port (or vice versa) and run it in backward-compatible legacy mode.

If you do not own any firewire devices do like I did and simply do not connect an older PC case firewire 400 - 1394a connector to an 800 - 1394b socket. I have also disable the firewire option in BIOS since I do not need it.

If the above info does not resolve your LAN problem then you may have a bad trace in you motherbboard wiring that is causing the activation of the 1394 firewire BIOS option to interfere with your LAN operation. This would leave you two options: to operate your system with firewire disable in BIOS or request and RMA for your motherboard.

Hello again,

I am using a Logitech G11 keyboard and a microsoft sidewinder mouse. Regarding the Firewire connecrtors (internal and external) i have no device connected on them or a cable from the PC case.

One thing that has just sprung to mind is to make sure that you haven't got the Firewire and USB connections on the board mixed up. The headers are physically the same but electrically they differ. It is possible that a connector has got inserted in the wrong header.

 It is just something else to tick off the list but Logitec keyboard have on this forum come up occasionally.....erratic behavior can be attributed to it and it's drivers

  Like many others I have a "stash in the office locker " an older PS2 keyboard for testing.... it'll mean uninstalling the drivers and disconnecting the Logitec equipment........and see if this fixes the problem..........if not........well we have one more bit of hardware and software ticked off.
