Not necessarily......the stated theoretical limit of 500Mb/s is per Channel/port you'll just have to give it a whirl .

utterly incorrect - each port on the ICH10R will do the max of SATA2
& ICH10R will do a max of ~600MB/s
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4159/ocz-vertex-3-pro-preview-the-first-sf2500-ssd/5
^ notice in the graphs that some SSDs are shown twice: once with (6Gbps) behind name, & once without (thus SATA2 port / 3Gbps) - are hence the different numbers for the exact same benchmark.. you'll also find that any benchmark done with SATA2 (so no brackets behind name etc) will never be over ~250MB/s - the max of SATA@

so 2x SATA2 SSD = close to the max of the ICH10R
& 2x SATA3 SSD = bandwidth limited by ICH10R

Wow!.....your pretty eloquent with words and what size shoe do you have ?

Because  I must be better with computers then I thought, ........the Raid5 array I just retired 7 months ago use to get 682Mb/s over the ICH10R :D

Using a single source to quote data from is a recipe for a foot sandwich ;)

better to quote one reliable source than none  ::)
R5 = minimum 3 drives - you said you got 682MB/s over ICH10R - sounds about right
but ~550MB/s from a single SATA2 port? never

quit the arrogant & ignorant posts mate - doesn't bode well for you nor clear & good info

Fair enough mate ( tiro_uspsss ) but where both Australians and perceived to have skin as thick as Queensland Bush pigs..... ;)

There was no o fence intended this end...... just a taking the pith sense of humor that gets me into trouble over hear continuously !

Never said 550mb/s .....did say 500 theoreticall......not physical.......best Ive seen was on a mates rig with 486Mb/s off a single port...and the best Ive seen on a fairly reputable review was a 706Mb.s  .....

  http://blog.whitesites.com/SSD-RAID-0-Benchmarks-for-Intel-ICH10R-ASUS-P6T-Deluxe__634257865192650000_blog.htm..

But arguing about nothing really......would rather have a decent pissing competition / discussion about something worth while

So where are you anyway .....and what cha running.......are prices still OK in OZ or getting stupid like here?

PS I work pretty Hard for my Karmas.......1500 posts takes a lot of hard work and happy customers.....do you think it fair to knock around my Karmas when I wasn't even working on anything you asked ? ..... Definitely not Australian......and if it wasn't you .....who ever....not nice!

no offence taken.. & I mean not to be argumentative but the numbers you state for a single SATA2 port are unbelievable - I'd *love* to see some HDTune screenies/whatever - the above link you gave is for a 3x SSD R0 - which would get close to the max of the ICH10R obviously, which I agree with you is.. 600MB/s or something ridiculous like that... like I said, not a chance there is such a thing as going beyond ~250MB/s from *any SATA2 port - it'd be out spec! ;D

in Perth.. noticed your OH in contrast to your local  ???  :P you bloody traitor!  :P hope it rains cats & dogs on you!  :D what do you do when the cricket is on now?!?  :P :D

I'm running nothing, cause nothing is working (thank you UD7 for not liking my E5640 ES  >:( )

prices? for SSDs? same ol' same ol' - europe's always been an expensive place to live :( I feel for ya - seriously :(
its HDDs that cost an arm & a leg - but I suspect that's world wide anyway (floods..thailand..etc)

Don't worry Allan's always bemoaning the fact that he is stuck over here in this refridgerator and it isn't even winter yet! I can't imagine what dragged him kicking and screaming all the way from sunny oz, I must admit there is no way I would have left there to come to rip off England!

I'll probably try one Agility 3 first - I think 450 mb/s probably is enought for audio DAW work  :D
