Sniper 2 : Creative SB X-Fi

Sniper 2 : Creative SB X-Fi
« on: November 21, 2011, 01:00:30 am »
I have a question on the on-board sound chip setup.  On all my other sound systems I could separate what the rear connection played (speakers) and what the front connection played (head phones).  I can not find that in the creative control panel.

Also when I plug in the headphones the speakers go dead, with other sound systems I could turn that off.

Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply, teknology9!

The control panel works just fine and I did find out how to have both front and rear play the same audio stream.

What my problem is now I would like to have the front and rear play 2 separate audio streams as my other sound systems did.

Also this is "Creative SB X-Fi" is on the motherboard of this "Sniper 2" and I can not identify which drivers at the creative site would work with it.  All I have tried are the drivers here at gigabyte.

Hi Billy885,

That's no problem.....no problem at all....glad to help. Well, it might be an idea to contact Gigabyte Technical Support here:

http://uk.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/support-downloads.aspx

Go to the Technical Support heading and raise a support ticket and ask them the question.

They may take a while to respond but they will......hopefully they will point you in the right direction.

Secondly, in the meantime you could contact Creatives Support Team and ask them......is there a serial number etc on the card to help identification?

Those steps I have suggested may help you to achieve the set up you want.

Hope this helps

Thanks again Teknology9,

I have submitted a Gigabyte support ticket and have not heard back from them, but it has only been a few day.

I tried to submit a Creative ticket also but card serial number and model numbers are a required entry and if I knew that I would not have to submit the ticket at all. Lol just my luck.

I guess I could put anything there just to see what happens and might try that if need be.  The AutoUpdater from Creative tells me I dont have any creative products installed on my computer and that software came with the motherboard.

As I said above "Just my luck"

Hi Billy,

I'd would wait to hear back from Gigabyte in that case and see what they suggest before you do anything, they may take a while but they will get back to you.

It could be that the sound is channelled to your headphones as and when you plug them in....possibly. The other sound systems you have used I take it have not been the  Creative product

But as I say wait and see what Gigabyte say first.

Have you this chips on the motherboard?

If yes, you find more infos here:

Yes that is the chip on my motherboard. The links did not help, they are just specs for the chip. Thanks for you reply!

Yes, I have now heard from Gigabyte Tech Support:

Answer :    Dear Customer,

Unfortunately you cannot play separate source at the same time

I say boomer!

Last motherboards had Realtek HD Audio chips and it could be done with them.

Last SB I had was a SB live and because of all the trouble I had with it, I used drivers from KXproject and it was possible with them.  I checked their website and they will NOT be developing drivers for the "Creative SB X-Fi" series of chips.  I like there hardware but have always hated there drivers.  Feel the same way about ASUS.

Thanks for you help, I will learn to live with it.
