Is there a BIOS update I need or something else to enable this function for this motherboard?

Hi and welcome.

I am not the AMD guru but I am not sure that this feature is available on AMD boards. On the Intel motherboards I think there is the same sort of thing called HPET High Precision Event Timer that can be set to 32 or 64 bit depending on your operating system. I haven't seen this on AMD boards, maybe it's just Giigabyte's offerings.

Thanks, I am not sure what is happening as my brother has an older board (800 chipset) and he has the feature, would be great if someone from Gigabyte could confirm if there is an update of sorts to enable this feature?

Hi there,

AS Dark Mantis has said you would probably do better if you contact Tech Support.

Just double checked and this feature is available on Series 7 & 8 boards but it is not present on the GA-990FXA-UD5 that I have even with latest BIOS. Not sure why and I will do some digging to see if I can find a reason/answer but probably won't be able to get proper answer until early next week.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.
