Cambridge is not just a University town.

Historically, Cambridge has been well served with pubs. In 1597 there were 80 ale houses, although this was reduced to 50 because too much corn was being used for ale instead of bread! By 1749 the number had risen to 156 inns and pubs, serving a population of 10000. Today, the 110 pubs serve a population of around 125000, an average of 1136 people per pub.

We are hoping to finalise the venue and dates within the next 3 days.

** NEWS **
A UK E-retailer has committed to supporting the event with some top-end hardware with the aim of breaking some if not all of the UK records at the meet.

Other mainstream manufactures have indicated that they would support the event for the novices and first timers. So things are looking good so far.

Places will be limited due to the nature of the event.

Confirmed Bookings to date.

Vantage 11 Contest

To assist UK bencher's in their preparation for global benching competitions a Vantage11 contest will be held on the morning of the second day.
Three hours will be allocated for the event in line with international event standards.
Hardware limitations will be discussed closer to the time of the event and will be dependant on the types of hardware used.
Manufactures have expressed a great interest in the outcome of this event I might add. :D

Anyone interested in extreme overclocking but wouldnt know where to start or have questions but feel to noobish to ask, then this event will be ideal for you. Where better to take your first steps into LN2 benching than a place surrounded by some of UKs top overclockers to help guide you along and you dont even need to worry about killing your own hardware as all will be provided for you in the Introductory lessons :D

Good Luck with this Hiviz, its great to see you keeping up the hard work for UK overclocking scene :)

regards

Gaz!

I've discussed this with a couple of people, and the prohibiting factor seems to be universal ..... £65 for entry plus factoring in travel and food, turns this into a £100+ day .... Not a complaint .... just brain storming ...I hope the event is a huge success regardless  ;)

Looking forward to some records falling

It always brings up the same issues doesn't it  Allan. It is fine for the few people who are local to the event but can run a bit expensive for everyone else. Just the way things are but I must admit to wishing I was closer to the venues.

Gigabyte forum might want to officially approach the organizers DM to have a web feed from the event for registered members. ;)

These are the sort of thing that could make it more worth while to be part of Gigabyte forum UK .... ;) ;)

I like both designs but the first one (from OP) is more catching in my opinion
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

The other poster looks better because I did it lol :p

Allan: There will be a hd stream with running commentary from overclock.nets podcast hosts so everybody knows what's going on :) Will post a link nearer the time so it can be embedded here.

The £65 might seem steep at first but when you consider you'd probably be spending double that on Ln2 alone to do it yourself, plus all the gear that you will also need ( hardware, pots, insulation, touches ) ... it's a relative bargain.  These bigger meets are way more fun than doing it on your bill anyway, and when everything goes wrong you can pop downstairs for a drink hehe.

                Afghanistan ! ! ! ....   :o .... "That one hell of a cab rib ride El_Gappo

So are the Pots cut up pieces of Howitzer barrels ?  :D ..... Top result on the Web feed .... this is the sort of thing that can open it up to the masses and a "HUGE" audience .....potentially blowing the attendance list out of the water next time round ..... Well done for the forward thinking!

Still going to try and make it for a day but have several irons in the fire ATM which is killing my sleep cycle ...... might have a new material you guys will want to play with soon ....  coming to the end of developing a new material that out-performs Copper (and Silver) by the looks of things ..... also a pretty cool new coolant ..... can't wait  to tell more but "Mum's" the word ATM  ;) ..... I'll know in the next week odd if I can attend commitments permitting......

P.S ...... Logo and banner is very  cool! 8)

ROFL  ;D miss-clicked during registration on that one.

The stream should be a laugh, viewers always seem to ask for headcams so we're going to go ahead a pick up a couple. Just hope I'm not the one that that ends up wearing it ::)

All the slots are not full for the introduction to LN2 course.

There is one place open for an experienced LN2 bencher to participate at the event.

Thanks to all who have contacted me and looking forward to meeting up with you all in March.

Well, what can I say but a big THANK YOU to HiVizman and everyone who made this event happen.

Being a novice at LN2 and also never having attended one of these events I really didn't know what to expect and was more than a little nervous as I made my way to Cambridge to attend the Big Freeze. I shouldn't have worried though as everyone who was taking part, from the pros to those who were wet behind the ears like myself, were brilliant.

On Saturday, the pros got stuck in to their own thing whilst those of us who had never handled LN2 and benching were given an introduction to the subject, in an easy manner by HiVizman. To use the word course, can be a little off putting to someone like me, who hated sitting in a classroom but it really wasn't like that at all, so I use the term a little loosely. The information was given in an easy and relaxed manner which was fun and enabled everyone to understand the subject, no classroom lectures here. The notes we were given, will prove extremely useful now I'm back at home and were a help as we embarked on getting our feet wet, or should that be hands frozen, when we embarked on setting up our first LN2 rigs!

If you get the chance to attend one of these events in the future then I would heartily recommend that you do so. You will learn a ton of stuff, be able to push the kit further than you would at home, meet some great people, have a brilliant time and some good laughs.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.
