New BIOS F8 for GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3
« on: February 22, 2012, 02:59:57 pm »
Hello all,

I have been having consistent problems with a SSD drive and BSOD and came online to check for a new BIOS for my motherboard.  I see at
http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3850&dl=1#bios

it shows a new F8 release on Feb 20 2012 -
however the download links don't work and it brings up a list of options:
http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/BIOS/mb_bios_ga-z68x-ud3p-b3_f8.exe

Using the @BIOS utility it does not even find the F8 version.

Can anybody enlighten me on these?  Are they beta drivers?
is /FileList/BIOS/mb_bios_ga-z68x-ud3p-b3_f8d.exe the lastest version?  Anybody know if this may resolve the consistent BSOD problems I'm having?
I have just gotten a non SSD drive today to try as well and updated the drive's firmware... Off topic, but maybe somebody could answer my questions about the BIOS update?

(BSOD are 0x00000f4 0x0000000000000003)

Thanks!

Hi and welcome.

The only thing I can advise you to do as a starting point is to update the firmware of the SSD drive and then motherboard's BIOS if it is available.  You don't mention what drive it is that you are trying to use so maybe you could also list your main hardware to give people a better idea of your system.

Hi there,

I am using this motherboard and having just double checked the links I would think that Gigabyte are currently in the process of updating the download links as the F8 BIOS has been beta until this update.

If you want to try the F8e beta BIOS then check out TweakTown BIOS updates here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/28441-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios.html this is the version I am currently running and it has resolved several problems that I have encountered. Or just keep checking the update links as they should be up and working properly fairly quickly.

It is an OCZ Solid 3 - I just updated its firmware to 2.15 from 2.06 (I had to get another drive to use as main OS to do this, which I did today).

my MB is currently F7 - I figured it was worth a look for any possible updates for the BIOS and was confused by the above.

For this thread, if I could get an answer regarding the BIOS update I would be content - I have some more troubleshooting to do regarding the SSD - but if it gets me nowhere I will return here and the OCZ forum with more details on the BSOD issue.

Thanks for your reply - I'll try that beta BIOS if I don't hear anything further as this BSOD issue is really annoying, and it would be nice to actually use this SSD drive without constant crashes!

You mean eu link?
http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/BIOS/mb_bios_ga-z68x-ud3p-b3_f8.exe

Europe link has always first upload, then later all another.

If I click on link you have provided I get a list of similar BIOS versions but there is no direct link for the F8 BIOS for the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 and it says the file is missing. The same applies to the links for China, USA and the ftp/http Russia links. Only the link for Asia is working and allows you to download the F8 BIOS

Actually, the image I posted was from the link for Europe but that seems irrelevant now as having just double checked, the F8 BIOS for the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 is not showing at all now. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3850&dl=1#bios

Also the F8d that had been available has also vanished from the download page.

Edit: Oops, apologies EX58, I think something maybe wrong with the original link I had bookmarked with my browser.  :-[
This link to TweakTown is OK and working if you want to get the F8 BIOS for this motherboard: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/28441-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios.html

Hi beechbum,

I sort of experienced the same issue with a OCZ Vertex 3 120GB maxiops SSD and this motherboard.
In my case however I don't get a bsod, but very occasionally my computer spontaneously restarts.
This could perhaps be related.
(I use the latest firmware and software in general)

My most important issue which still hasn't been solved is a serious write speed bottleneck with this SSD when C3/C6 State Support is enabled (or set tot auto) in any bios version, except F5. I am testing with Atto (older versions and newest).

See:
http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,6292.0.html

I also saw Gigabyte removed version F8 from the website.
No explanation whatsoever.
I wonder why they do this.

Bios F8 is back again.

I wonder if this one is different from the earlier F8 which was removed for several days.
Should I update my bios F8 (earlier released) with this F8 (again released)?

Anybody?

It is the same BIOS file, there was just a technical glitch on the Gigabyte site. I am also running the "earlier" F8 BIOS on this board without any problems so I  don't think you need to worry.
