GA-990XA-UD3 temperature sensors

 im new in here, I bet You will know the answer to my question
What are the tmpin0 tmpin1 and tmpin2 sensors in HWmonitor.
I found a topic about 990FXA-UD3 but i quess it can have the different sensors than my 990XA....

I found some discussions about that on google but i want to make sure
My PC is biult with the GA-990XA-UD3 F10g BIOS, FX-8120@4GHz, Corsair 2x4GB 1866MHz, Chieftec 750W
After few minutes with OCCT my max temps are like that:

TMPIN0 33C
TMPIN1 49C
TMPIN2 58C

Cores #0-7 47C

I saw some posts that CPU would be TMPIN1 but Easy Tune shows same value as TMPIN2...
Also Heatsink just under the CPU feel quite hot surely not 30-40C

Its important to me because if TMPIN2 is realy the CPU temp then im only 3C under the max of 61C and the summer is still to come
I use the Thermaltake Contac 29 HS with 2 120mm fans.

PS: I also have some strange Fan speed readings showing my CPU FAN had like max 675000 RMP, but ist showing right actual speed...

Thanks for the answer!:) The same thing I found about 990FXA board. I don't want to be a whiner but there's something strange with this sensors then

Hi there,

welcome to the world of temperature monitoring and trying to find answers to what would seem like a basic question but to which there doesn't seem to be a proper answer.

If you ask Gigabyte they will respond with the fact that they only support EasyTune or TouchBios and that you should use one of these programs for monitoring. I haven't asked the same questions of CPUID HW Monitor and I am not sure what level of support, if any, they offer for the free version that most of us use.

So what is the answer?
I'm afraid that, despite over a year of looking into this topic, I cannot offer an accurate reply. I have noticed that on my AMD System and also my Intel one that there are marked differences between the CPU temps reported by Gigabyte Software and 3rd party monitoring software, sometimes as much as 10C with the 3rd party software showing higher temps than EasyTune or TouchBios. Using an external thermometer to measure temps is pretty difficult and I often come up with a figure that is below those being shown by the software but I feel that is because I can't get in close enough to the CPU for accurate readings.

In the end, I have opted to use the Gigabyte software for monitoring, as this is designed for Gigabyte motherboards, rather than the 3rd party options which are designed to cover lots of different manufacturers and CPU's.

Well its a shame I was hoping to OC my 8120 a little bit more but since ET6 shows 57-58C already I guess its not the best idea...
I wrote to the Gigabyte support about the TMPINs but after Your post I bet They wont tell me a thing :p

As a matter of interest have you tested TouchBios to see your CPU temp? This tends to show the same figure as that being reported in BIOS and maybe different from EasyTune.

Well tried it now and the TouchBios shows that
CPU temperature = TMPIN2 = Easy Tune 6 CPU temperature
System temperature = TMPIN0 = Easy Tune 6 System temperature
so i guess TMPIN1 is maybe northbridge or power section...

Hmm i saw dozens of people OC'ing their CPU's because They though TMPIN1 was the CPU temp :/
I wonder how many of these CPU's have fried

exactly where on the m/b is TMPIN0? I run a long GPU card, which tends to divide my case in two sections, above/below the PCIE 16x slot...

The sensors are usually in the upper side near CPU and CPU VRM ,hotest areas.
I wouldn t trust them to much though.
If the temps are higher than the limits intended the board will throttle performance no matter the readings in software.
