Title: EasyTune 8 not remembering settings.
Post by: Svarog on June 07, 2013, 08:53:54 pm
Gonna keep it short and simple.

Specs:

Intel Core i7 4770K
Gigabyte X87X-OC (F3)
Gskil ARES 2133 MHz
Zotac GTX 680 4GB
Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro
Crucial M4 256GB (040H)
OCZ Vertex 120GB (1.7)
Samsung SpinPoint 1TB
SeaSonic Platinum 760
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

So i installed App Center followed by EasyTune. The Bios Fan Controls are set to Normal as the Manual says that allows control thru EasyTune. I Calibrate the Fans, setup my Fan Profile via the Advanced setting, click Apply and config EasyTune to retain the Smart Fan settings.

After rebooting everything has been reset to default.

Easy Tune 6 and other previosly version are bad sofware.

It cause many problems in system.

The best is to uninstall it completely and use other third party software.

Sadly enough all those programs are just monitoring. I just want to set up a CPU Fan Speed profile.

I been using EasyTune on my X58A-UD7 for years without resetting issues.

Did some further testing.

Irrespective of the settings in the Bios the cpu fan runs on full throttle during start up and or entering the bios.

In order to get the cpu fan to throttle down I have to go into EASY Tune hit calibrate each and every time.

On my previous Gigabyte mother boards I most often did not even bother to use Easy Tune but used the bios
setting to reflect my preference.

On the z87x ud5h the bios setting do not seem to effect the Fan rpm settings, buggy bios?

Maybe because you have a CPU with Hyperthreading ... the Fan rpm are sensitive ....
The hyperthreading in BIOS is Enabled or Disabled?
This is just a question. Not for make a change in bios.

Never been able to get SpeedFan to work, it's way to complicated.

Since the Noctua NH-U14S (Push/Pull) is still silent at 1200 RPM i'm going for a more easy solution. Put the Fan Speed Reducer in between and keep the Bios Fan settings to Silent Mode :)

My problem is solved with the kind help of GB Hamburg.

Apparantly my brand new Gelid 12cm 4 pin cpu fan is not compatible, mounted a Scythe 12cm and this
is running correctly.

Will monitor Easy Tune to see is my settings are rembered or also defaulted

Also make sure to calibrate the fans with easytune or it wont properly work.

Nothing helps.

EasyTune just wont remember Fan profiles setup in the Advanced section.

On my Z87x ud5 the Fan settings are correctly stored in Easy Tune.

Did you click on "Retain Smart Setting after reboot" in the preference box?

Yep, checked that but after a reboot it has all been reset to default.

And that's with a clean install of Windows.

Perhaps EasyTune doesn't like the Noctua NF-A14 PWM fans.

That be might the case, my 120mm Gelid fan ran full throttle.

For the time being I'm using a 120mm Scythe fan, trust a new bios will solve these issues.

Same problem here with my Noctua fans. Hoping for a fix in an update soon.

Did some further testing, connected my 4 pin pwm Zawards 140mm Fans to the mb, was able to set everything to my lilking
but after a windows restart the fan connected to sys fan1 did not work only after I again Calibrated the Fans it started.

So it seems the current bios and or Easy Tune version do not correctly controll the Fans.

You would imagine these basic elements would have been tested by GB?

Hi all,  ;)

If you have a fan with a control button, like Minimum - Middle - Maximum positon.
Otherwise, Fan with 3-speed switch control

or if you  use this
http://www.aliexpress.com/item-img/Mini-3-Pin-CPU-Fan-Speed-Controller-for-PC/820686101.html

It is normal than bios have not able to control a fan speed.

I bought a 224,00 euro mb, one would expect that the Fan controlls work on the motherboard together
with the provided Easy Tune Software.

Hi,

Please give a answer:

Have you a fan with a control button, like Minimum - Middle - Maximum positon?

Have you a Fan with 3-speed switch control?

Have you a Fan controlled by Fan Control Panel?

If you are not sure, give us a picture about connection and cable fan in your  computer.
Give us a web link of brand about Case and Fan ....

Have you this case:
http://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/111-switch-810-case.html
Cooling System    Front, 2 X 120/140mm (1x 140mm included)
Rear, 1 X 120/140mm (1x 140mm included)
Top, 3 X 120/140mm (1x 140mm included)
Bottom, 2x 120/140mm
Interior, 2x 120/140mm (1x 140mm included)

Have you change or modify Fan control by add hardware cable or anyting?

In Bios:
What are the setting for fan ?

I have a NZXT 810 with 5 140mm fans, for the time being they are connected to a loose nzxt phantom controller.

So Im able to adjust de speeds, however with this new built I thought to use all 5 mb fans connectors and set the
required speeds in the bios and or use Easy Tune to further fine tune the settings.

All my fans have to settings they are straight forward 140mm NZXT fans with a three pin connector.

Hi again,

So I understands , in your situation, on Bios, by the Bios way... you are able to control speed ... all 5 fans ? Right... yes or No...
At this step... forgot Easy tune 8 or any other version...
Just give infos about situation in Bios....

Connected 1 120mm 3 pin fan to fan3 on the motherboard.

The settings in the Bios silent / normal and full work!

Fine tuned the setting Fan3 with Easy Tune and now the fan is running at the required rpm and temp.

Did some further testing Zaward 140mm 4 pin on sys fan 1 and sysfan 5 no go.

Gelid 4 pin on sysfan fan 5 - works / Zaward on system fan 5 does not work

Zalman 3 pin fan on system 3 works.

Since my Cpu 4 pin Gelid cooler is also not working correctly on the cpu fan header, it seems that the mb
has problems with certain 4 pin fans.

This matter is getting stranger by the minute, Zaward 4 pin does not work on sys fan 5 but 4 pin Gelid does, but Gelid
does not work correctly on the 4 pin CPU header.

Users of Noctua Fans have also encountered the same problem.

Trust a new bios will solve this issue.

I could try a 3-Pin on the CPU Header myself, but i got everything cabled so tidy now. My 5 Case Fans run of a Scythe Kaze Master Pro.

I just want to be able to control my 2x Noctua NF-A14 PWM for the CPU.

I'm not sure if it's EasyTune or a 4-Pin issue. But once rebooted EasyTune resets the Fan Profile that has been made.

Seems to be remembering the settings now with the new version of EasyTune.

So it was a bug in EasyTune after all.
