Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
I am sure we can help you out here. Starting from the top of the board (CPU end) you have three blue ports and then two white ports.
Put your SSD on the first(top) blue port (SATA2_0)
Put your Western Digital drive on the next port down (blue SATA2_2)
Put the DVD optical drive on the top white port (SATA3_6)
In the BIOS I would suggest setting the Intel ICH10 Southbridge ports to AHCI and then the Marvell ports to IDE
Hope this helps you.

Hello Dark Mantis.
you mean the western digital and the dvd rom make them slaves?
edit: western digital is sata 6gbs ... but working good on sata 2 port too. is that problem?
i have mode ahci now and ssd and wd is in the same drivers installed by intel sata raid. from the gigabyte forum. technology save intel rapid.
is all ok?

There is no such thing any more as Master and Slave with SATA. That was only for the old IDE drives. Disregard anything it says like that in the BIOS as it is just a leftover from then.
The SSD should be the first drive in your list with the Western Digital drive on the same controller, even though it is only SATA2 and the drive is SATA3 it is still the best port for it as the Marvell controller never worked as it was supposed to. The optical DVD drive obviously doesn't matter as much speed wise but sometimes they can be troublesome on a controller set to AHCI so it is better to seperate them and run it as IDE.
Don't worry that you have used the IRST for the AHCI drivers although there was no reason to.

If you can post what operating system you are using I can be more accurate on what you need to download.

i forget somethink, now i have the dvdrom on the marvel controller should i use drivers? please reply to this when you answer me my previous answers.
because im a little confused of all this:/

Hi Johnz-
Firstly you still haven't answered my question regarding what operating system you are using ?
Yes your system seems fine and the drive should be ok on that controller.
You should use all the chipset drivers from the website and that will enable the optical drive to work fine too.
-
No drivers needed for the Marvell controller unless you are using RAID on it, and especially are not needed if you are only using a CD/DVD player there.
-
yep thx guyz, sorry im using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit service pack 1 .
i think if i dont install drivers i will see the marvel controler in the devices with (?)
-
Thanks. No you don't need to install anything just to use the Marvell controlled ports. The drivers you should load are here:

I use the RST driver because without them internal drives are listed as removable cluttering up the safely remove hardware wizard. I also find the RST drivers to be more compatible with optical drives connected to the Intel controller. Nero CD DVD speed does not work correctly using the MSAHCI driver. My SSD also performs better using the RST drivers. IOPS are greatly improved. 4K read/write also improves to some degree. Do to the above I see no reason not to use the Intel RST driver.

Yes that's fair comment Bill. I certainly wouldn't argue about it as I hold a similar belief myself. ;)

If you disable the USB3 in the BIOS you realise that you will lose the use of those ports also ?
Apart from that you should be fine. ;)
-
i didnt know that, thats why i want some more info :)
-
No problem! If you want to use those ports but don't need the USB3.0 capability then just leave them enabled but don't load the USB3.0 drivers and you will be able to use them as normal USB2.0 ports.
-
without drivers usb 3 dont work, maybe i need enable usb mouse legacy ?
-
The USB3.0 ports should work but only at USB2.0 speed. You only need to enable USB Legacy support in the BIOS to be able to use the mouse or keyboard if they are USB before Windows loads the drivers for them.

I would think the NEC USB 3 drivers would need to be installed to use the ports at all. No driver no ports.

i agree with bill, without drivers usb 3 ports dosnt work... with my microsoft mouse 1.1 optical. its old maybe its 1.1 usb . maybe is for that reason.
-
Possibly you are correct, I will have to try it without drivers and see if it is still available. I will test and post back later.
-
DM you didnt reply :)
-
No I am sorry but i have been terribly busy this past week and I haven't had time to test. I will do though and reply. :-[
-
:) dont be sorry i just asked why you didnt reply yet hehe, no problem when you have time its nothink so important.

OK! I have just reconfigured it without any of the Renesas USB3.0 drivers and the ports work fine as USB2.0. I even ran the setup with the USB controlled keyboard and mouse plugged into the USB3.0 port.
I didn't have anything that was 1.1 or older so couldn't test mwith that but there shouldn't be any difference as the standards are backwards compatible.
I must admit to not being sure myself after you had challenged me but it seems I was correct. ;)
-
officialy i dont have problem on my motherboard, as i said maybe your ud5 works and without driversand ud3 not, but i have test it only with 1.1 mouse on mine.
-
I wouldn't have expected the ports to behave differently as the architecture is the same. Possibly it is down the the device installed. :-\

Is device manager clean with the NEC/Renasas drivers removed?

It was just showing them as Unknown Devices Bill.
