I have a large UPS system but I even shut that down at night. So there is no residual current flow there.

I haven't enabled EuP but I have heard something similar myself. Don't know how acccurate this is though.

well my last Psu was not compatable for this , the 850 is as i do not get a Boot loop at start, i have enabled it now , this is what i read post 1063 http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=240276&page=43 issue satrta at post 1040 and there is one with the same ram as mine that has same intermittent issue,

another thing while system open i can hear slight cap wine noise on idle while Hdd's are accessing, at loud i can hear a fluttering noise when i put my ear to the 850 at back and i am 90% sure it is coming from there, only faint though , will take the psu out tomorrow, to make sure it is the Psu ..

Does yours make ANY wine noise?

man this is wearing me thin ..

The noises are easilly fixed now so that is not a problem. There is a BIOS version available that will probably do the job but if not a small hardware fix is available from  Gigabyte's Service Centre. The BIOS version is FVA and is available from runn3R.

The easiest way to track down the noise is to use a bit of plastic or cardboard tube put to your ear.

What does the FVA do?  this will stop the Psu Wine?

I haven't actually used it but I believe it does something to stop the coil whine which is related to the PSU also.

Here is the BIOS if you want to try it: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/upload/files/BIOS_X58A-UD7_1.0_FVA.zip

Disabled EIST and C1E was part of the the clock also disabled that on Second reboot which i am still Standard clock (both were enabled on the overclock), the Psu Wine is gone  ;D C3/C6/C7 is what i meant ::)

Jesus, at least one issue is gone , did a Quick google and there is a few posts on various Psu's relating the same issue on Intel speed step and Psu wine.

Yes I figured that is what you meant  ;D

As you say it is not hard to get rid of the noise, one way or another.
There are plenty of posts on this forum about it without Googling for it  ;)

Anyway have a good Christmas mate.

odd that i did not have the cap wine noise before and now this has all of a sudden started, may be related to cold boot reset, i also switched off Virtualization Technology.

same to you Merry  Christmas .. the time of year for too much beer and  Bearded lady's lol.

First i really used this Power saving on the X58, seems to work like a charm since i had the Ud7, not like the 775 platform were i disabled it ,the 775  system was never stable with it on,
going to keep this power saving off for a while now on the Ud7 but leave ErP on.

hibernation? you mean Windows Power usage?if so this is off as well, always has been. i see no hibernation in the Bios. unless you mean ErP power state.
