http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/12/20/2696817/x58aud3r.fc1.zip

Is the date correct on that file or is that when the original folder was made?

Or is this not for the ver 2 of this board ?

All Rev. 2.0 boards always have BIOS file names F - then a Letter and sometimes them followed by a number.

Rev. 1.0 boards always have F - then a number

This is for Rev. 2.0 board

The BIOS file was last modified 9/9/10

I think RAID is off but I still don't know for sure how to check it.

My computer is still restarting on shut down. I tried turning off XMP and manually setting my RAM to 1600, same problem.

I'm pretty sure it isn't OS based because it happens on both of my operating systems.

Ideas?

RAID is something that you have to build I guess we can call it when you first install your OS. It is not a setting that you enable or disable, so I am guessing based on your reply that you did not build a RAID array of hard drives when you first put your PC together. So do not worry to much about that.

Have you been able to get into the first menu of the BIOS yet?

And could you please confirm that the the restart after shut down is the only problem that you are still having? If not could you list them so that we can systematically work through them and try to resolve them with you.

After all the things you have looked at I think it is time to check your CPU socket for bent pins. It is a distinct possiblity that one or more are bent and that is what is causing your problems.

I can sometimes get to the first menu of the BIOS... I have been able to access it a couple times when unplugging my USB HDD and a couple other things.

IIRC these are my only current issues, in order of importance:
1) computer restarting on shut down
2) clock isn't correct even after fixing in OS: maybe I have to correct it in BIOS? but I think this is happening because of problem #1... because when I have to force off my comp then the BIOS resets

I'll check for bent pins, too...

Take a couple of macro photos and post them here so we can check them out properly. It is easy to miss some.

Please also confirm for me your BIOS chips have matching BIOS versions in them, if not this can sometimes occur as well.

To check, go into the BIOS and on the MAIN page press F9 for system info.   You should see both BIOS versions listed, if they do not match please update the backup BIOS to match the current.

To do that, reboot and where you would normally press END to enter the BIOS, instead press Alt + F12, this will flash the Backup BIOS with the MAIN BIOS contents.   Do not worry when you see a recovery comment, that is normal and means it is flashing the backup BIOS.

Once finished, go into windows and see if you can then use your reset and shut down buttons.

And yes, you MUST Set the time correctly in the BIOS, then once in windows sync it with windows time.   If you notice windows time is far off from what you just set in the BIOS, go back to the BIOS and set as close to windows time as you can, then come back to windows and sync it again.   Then it should stay correct unless you have a power or battery issue.

hI looks like you need to follow Lsdmeasap's instructions and flash the backup BIOS with the main one. Don't forget the clock check afterwards.

Right, the BIOS versions do not match.   Please us the above info and flash the backup BIOS to FC1 as well.

I flashed my GA-X58A-UD3R v2 to FB today and wanted to update the backup bios to FB. I had a look and the backup is FA. I tried the Alt + F12 trick during the bios post screen but nothing happened.

"To do that, reboot and where you would normally press END to enter the BIOS, instead press Alt + F12, this will flash the Backup BIOS with the MAIN BIOS contents.   Do not worry when you see a recovery comment, that is normal and means it is flashing the backup BIOS.

This makes no sense to me. End does no enter the bios. Delete enters the bios. End runs Qflash.

Thanks
Bill

I think it was just a typo Bill. What you have to remember is that when you are answering a lot of queries you are bound to make the odd mistake so let's not castigate him for that when he does a lot of good. As to why the ALT+ F12 didn't work I really can't say. I would just advise you to try it again.

Everytime I try to save BIOS to hard disk in QFlash, my system hangs at the part where it asks me if I'm sure I want to overwrite.

nothing... the question remains on screen. only keyboard input that works is ctrl+alt+delete for restart.

tried at least 3 times, same symptoms. :hmm:
