Hi and welcome.

You don't exactly give us a lot of details to go on to be honest but I would certainly check to see if the SSD has any newer firmware that you can install.

What port have you got it on ?

What speed is the SSD ?

How big is the drive ?

What motherboard do you have ?

etc, etc.

the mobo is in the topic name and first post .
marvell port 0 , size 120 , speed hmmm where will i find that out ? .
if you want bench mark results its around 245 writing and 410 reading .

im under the impression that the marvell chip is not upto the job of ssd's. yet
where ever i look and read about this chip its the slowest ! unreliable ! unstable and unwanted chip EVER ,,,,.

but thats not what i need to talk about .

i want to get the old bios back , there are 2 on this mobo and the 1 it uses is corrupted somehow .
i just need to be told how to get the old bios onto the other bios .
if i need to explain more pls post what you need to help me .

thanks

Ok I understand now. There is two options to do what you want to do. The first is just to flash your BIOS again like you did last time but with the old (or another) BIOS file as the target. You can flash your BIOS as many times as you want.

Secondly is the option to recover the original BIOS from the Backup BIOS chip. To do that follow these instructions:

You can kick in the backup BIOS by shutting down the PSU from the wall, then hold down your case power button in and then turn on the power supply button, a few seconds later the board will start, shut off the power supply then.   Then you can turn on the power supply again and power up the board normally and DualBIOS will kick in.

do i need to press anything to make it kick in ? .
if not its not working doing the power off and unplugging way .

i unplugged the cable from the tower , then popped it back in while keeping the power button pressed , when it started to boot and i mean as soon as it did i turned the power off the power supply by the button on the power supply at the back where the power cable plugs in , i then turn it on again and it just boots to windows .

thanks .

what would happen if i start to load the bios and while half way i power down , would that make it kick in ? .

I am afraid I don't know what will happen if you change the way of doing it. I just know that it works if you follow these instructions.

nope its got 2 things wrong again .  :'(
ok with the old bios i loose 2 gig of memory at start up , i shutdown and reboot and the other 2 gig shows up .
second problem is the ssd , it looses this the first start and find it after a reboot , but because its a ssd it looses files that need fixed too .

is there a fix for this , or have you heard of this before .

thanks

How's it going Gd .... firstly I went to church today!

Sometimes you have to read between the lines........take the SSD out of Marvell and put it into ICH10R and leave it there.....If you have other PCI cards installed......get rid of them too.........second Take out your memory till you have just 1 left in the master memory slot for your board........this will give you the cleanest chance of getting the board configured and once done you can start adding your kit one bit at a time ;)

        Hope this helps

P.S .....If you look at my sig.....I have experience with this board with lots hanging off it ;)

As i said below ...... 1 dimm of memory........... GPU.....CPU......SSD in Intel port.......optical in Marvell....(it's all it's good for on the X58/A boards ) set to IDE even if it's a SATA DVD and set SSD to what ever you loaded OS with (IDE or ACHI)...

Reduce any peripherals as much as you can......if you can get there......go into BIOS and hit "Optimized Defaults and save and reboot.........Optimized Defaults sets up the board to go hunting for absolutely everything that's connected to the board anew......Go back into BIOS and setup as you would normally for the kit connected.....save and try to reboot to windows.......

  report back with what happens

Hi

I think that you are misunderstanding Allan when he says just one stick of memory. He means exactly that, one module in the first white slot DDR3_1 only.
