CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 and Gigabyte X79-UD3 timings
« on: June 06, 2013, 09:00:04 am »
I had purchased a custom built rig that had the CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 (16GB) RAM sticks and the gigabyte X79-UD3. At some point I performed a BIOS update, and so the CMOS was cleared first.

However, with the default settings, it appears the memory timings do not match what is listed on the product tech specs and also within cpu-z SPD timings table. At frequency of 1333Mhz, the RAS Precharge (tRP) is auto set at 11 clocks, and command rate is 1T. According to SPD tab in CPU-Z, tRP should be 9 and command rate is empty for 666Mhz.

Similar problem if I use XMP as well. tRP is auto set at 11, and command rate is 1T when it should be 2T according to SPD.

What should I do? Do I leave it as it is, or must be manually correct this in the BIOS?

These are the settings that the BIOS has auto set:

Clear the cmos again and this time just go into the bios. Go over to the MIT.

Advanced Memory settings / System Memory Muitipier / change that with the + & - keys to you it to shows 1600.

You don't have to set the XMP profile. Check the date, time, & drives to make those are right.

I have 3 - X79 boards and that is all I have to do just set the speed.

Plus you don't have to play around with the timings on a Intel board.
