Hi Ben,

Just about Canada: Yes the Saskachewan is in the country. But me I come du Quebec.

About Topic:

I imagine you check interference around monitor...
Keep the monitor away from any electronic device or plug into an outlet.

Have you tried plug monitor in other Wall connection.... ?
With an extension cord, try plugging into a wall outlet that is not the same breaker or fuse.

Maybe you sse a difference... Why not...

Hi Aussie Allan and Ben,

I have researched on this phenomena of noise. Here's what I found. It is generally, but it certainly helps for understanding the situation. Finally, I hope ....

The major noise sources are transformers and capacitors.

Transformers can produce audible noise, since they contain many physically movable elements, such as coils, isolation
tapes and bobbins.
The current in the coils produces electromagnetic fields which generate repulsive and/or attractive forces between the coils.
This can produce a mechanical vibration in the coils, ferrite cores or isolation tapes.

The Ceramic capacitors can also produce audible noise,

since they have piezoelectric characteristics.
If there is still too much audible noise in burst operation after gluing or varnishing the transformer properly, the capacitor in the snubber network should be examined.

By replacing the ceramic capacitor with a film capacitor,

the audible noise can be reduced.

In general, human ears are most sensitive to frequencies of 2kHz~4kHz and are less sensitive to frequencies which are higher or lower
The fundamental frequency of burst switching can be changed by modifying the feedback network, with a circuit modification.

Enough to argue in front of a salesman or even better, front of a company technician.  ::)

Yeah!....almost....these guys are already potted (encapsulated)................these are the critters I was referencing to

this was a before and after.....you'll notice the winding is not the usual bare wire with the resinous coating but plastic ....stops vibration a little better then resinoids.

Hi Aussie Allan,

It gives me the feeling that I'd better buy a digital snake video for inspection ...
I could use to inspect my walls, my plumbing and see inside the computer hardware ... prior to purchase;D

Don't really want to open up the monitor as of yet 9may void warranty).
Hi Gloup, will try moving things around  but can't see what difference it will make as it only has just started doing this, I am thinking it could be cap problems, so I will wait & see what AOC has to say before I rip open the back to look inside.
Thanks again everybody.

Just RMA Ben.......it's in the top 3 causes/problems just about all monitors suffer from when one slips through quality control

If you told them the Monitor was humming Xmas carols it might raise an eye brow......but a buzz or a intermittent hum....you'll be fine! ;)

Got a reply back from AOC's sales manager he/she  suggested I RMA it to my local branch, problem is I am in S/A they are in NSW.
I sent an email to the NSW branch asking if I could swap it over for a new one at my local store where I purchased it from, as I need the monitor for my work.
So am waiting for a reply.

Hi Ben,

looks like your moving in the right direction, why take of the back when you have a warranty and you may make the situation worse. Gloup_Gloup's research is interesting though......but RMA is the way to go I would have thought......it should be less hassle.

NSW doesn't look that far........not on the map anyway!!! :)

Hi Tek9,

As you say I don't want to void the warranty, anyway just received an email from the NSW branch giving me a phone number to call. So I will do this after work today, & let you all know of the outcome.

Thanks Gloup for all your suggestions & great feedback. (& everyone else's don't want you guys to feel left out ha,ha)

Ben.

PS. My main problem is I don't have the box it came in, but I do have the receipt, so I hope they don't need the original packaging.

Hi Ben,

Well either find some packaging around your house or buy a box and label it with your details and the RMA number, or how AOC want it done, and seal it with some parcel tape. If your taking it in get reciept or some kind of acknowledgement that they have recieved the parcel and then get your replacement making sure it is the same model and test it to make sure it isn't a dud....or crook....as they  say in Aus.( Aussie Allan speak!!!)

The question is chap....what lessons can be learnt from this......are there any other good PC stores near to you? But I hope the outcome is a good one and your up and running again.

Contacted AOC they asked me to package up the monitor & have it ready Thursday as they are sending a courier to pick it up.
So lets hope all goes well, they reckon 4 days to get it back.

Hi,

When I recieved my replacement the exchange was made at the door, I checked the model......tested it......still not right......went through the process again and they replaced it....at the door again....so they were quite efficient. Just make sure all the relevent details are on the box and a letter with your information inside incase they say " we lost your address and documents sir". Hopefully it should'nt happen........have you read there warranty information.....is there a manufacturer that offers a better warranty....4 days...they should give a replacement there and then.

A bit of research into other manufacturers and there warranty either by phone to the technical department or on the interweb to find out how good the warranty is.....that's my take on it Ben.
