Hi jimmy1228,  ;)

About a picture, I do not view a major problem.
If you have any doubt about any of the photos.

We say. You see the socket better than us. Anyway, Dark Mantis check again too later.

About CPU and HeatSink:

You have a standard heatsink like this: http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Intel-Sandy-Bridge-Review-Core-i7-2600K-and-Core-i5-2500K-25.jpg
or
Intel tower cooler like this : http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Intel-Sandy-Bridge-Review-Core-i7-2600K-and-Core-i5-2500K-24.jpg

The lights should all show at first and then go out one by one as POST progresses. Is it all working now.?

The bits on show of the socket looked fine. Maybe it just needed reseating properly.

So you used a different processor and it worked? But with your chip it doesn't?

I'd make sure the fan and heatsink is correctly seated onto the cpu with some fresh thermal paste.

You say the GPU fan isn't spinning at all? Remove it from your board and use standard vga port and intel hd 3000 graphics.

Have you got the 8pin connector plugged into your motherboard as well as the 24pin connector?

Put the motherboard, cpu heatsink and fan, hdd onto a cardboard box and try booting, might be shorting on the case.

Try using one stick of ram in slot #1, if it doesn't work, use another ram slot, or another ram stick.

Remove all non necessary parts like gpu, dvd drive etc.

Can you explain more about using a different CPU please ?

You won't be able to use onboard graphics on a P67 as there aren't any. It was only the H67 that had the graphics capability.

put a different i7 chip in i am guessing its the psu if i leave the system running for 2 hours or more the next day it will not post if i then turn off the psu overnite it boots fine.  seems to me like something in the psu itself is failing when the system runs for a while then by removing the power to the psu for a period of time it all works just fine.

the psu and the ram are the only things i haven't swapped out so im thinking of going to the local microcenter and picking up a corsair cx600 (theyre on sale and im not rich) just to try it out easy to return if thats not the problem.

Yes a good idea, especially if you can return it if it fails to be the base of the problem.

Good luck and a Happy New Year to you.
