Yes definitley once you have everything running right. It will shorten the boot time considerably.  ;)

Had to resort back to FA

BIOS is very sluggish in Fb11 and Fb16

Cannot access half the features
Booting takes 10 mins

You can still enable quick boot in FA. Not that it helps cure your problem just thought I would mention it. I would be inclined to load the newer BIOS and then trim it right down to the barest necessities and see how it went. More play time ;D

Cannot trim anything.

Cannot access half the features or settings

The BIOS locks up/freezes

If I press any key before the memory test has completed it crashes and loops round to start of BIOS

If I press any key after memory check then the BIOS is extremely LAGGY and very very slow either in its own functions or if I try to alter any settings.

SO I either use FA and have 4Gb of ram or I use Fb16 which takes 12 minutes to boot if at all but I have 6Gb of ram

This to be honest is very very frustrating, ive never had these problems even with a 680i board i used which were famous for problems

Can I just clarify that the motherboard is a GA-X58A-UD3R revision 2.0

Thanks for clearing that up Dark, that UDR3 thing was throwing me off bigtime! Im thinking my BIOS flash problems aren't as bad as his.

I have just been re-reading your thread bob, and just noticed that you are running two graphics cards. Have you tried removing one of them I would suggest the 480 and then trying to boot? Also what PSU is powering all this?

Oh, yes. Plenty of power then. I would still try removing the graphics card and see if it makes any difference. There have been problems with these cards in the past.

TRied removing the 8800GT

And still same problems with Fb16
Returned to FA

WIll try taking the GTX480 out tomorrow and put the 8800 GT back

Why would I be able to return to FA no problems if this was causing the problems ????

There has been problems with the firmware on these cards and maybe it is conflicting with the newer BIOS.

OK tried with just 8800GT and tried with just GTX480 still cannot get Fb16 to function properly

FA works great with both or either card except for the ram problem
